Itinerary

Upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and assisted by our representative before being transferred to your hotel in Amman. After check-in, there will be time to rest from your journey. Depending on your arrival schedule, you may enjoy a short orientation tour of Amman, the bustling modern capital with layers of history. A panoramic visit to Citadel Hill, with its temples, Byzantine church remains, and views over the city, and the nearby Roman Theatre, built in the 2nd century AD, will provide a glimpse into Amman’s ancient past. Dinner and overnight stay in Amman.

This morning, drive north to explore Jerash (ancient Gerasa), one of the cities of the Decapolis and one of the best-preserved Greco-Roman sites in the world. Known as the “Pompeii of the East,” Jerash boasts grand colonnaded streets, the Oval Plaza, temples dedicated to Zeus and Artemis, two theatres, and impressive city gates. It is mentioned in the Bible as part of the Decapolis region visited by Jesus. Continue onward to Anjara, a revered Christian site in the Gilead Mountains. According to tradition, Jesus, his disciples, and Mary passed through this area and rested in a cave, now the Shrine of Our Lady of the Mountain, which is visited by pilgrims from around the world. Later, visit Ajloun Castle, built in 1184 by the generals of Saladin to defend the land against the Crusaders. From its towers, enjoy breathtaking views over the northern highlands and the Jordan Valley below. In the evening, return to Amman for dinner and overnight stay.

Following breakfast, depart for Bethany Beyond the Jordan (Al-Maghtas), a place of immense spiritual significance where John the Baptist lived and baptized Jesus. Recognized by UNESCO and visited by Popes and patriarchs, this sacred site is considered one of the most important Christian pilgrimage destinations in the world. Walking among the ruins of early baptismal pools, churches, and monasteries allows for quiet reflection and prayer. Continue to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, renowned for its mineral-rich waters and healing properties. Here you will have the chance to float effortlessly on the surface and enjoy a time of relaxation and contemplation along its peaceful shores.

After breakfast, travel along the historic King’s Highway to Mount Nebo, one of the most revered sites in Jordan. This is where Moses stood and looked out across the Jordan Valley to the Promised Land. From the summit, you can enjoy sweeping views over the Jordan River, the Dead Sea, Jericho, and even Jerusalem on a clear day. The Memorial Church here preserves exquisite mosaics dating back to the 4th century. Continue to Madaba, often called the “City of Mosaics.” In the 6th century, Christian artisans created masterpieces of stone and glass here, the most famous being the mosaic map of the Holy Land housed inside St. George’s Church—the oldest surviving map of its kind. Afterward, visit Umm ar-Rasas, an important biblical site mentioned in both the Old and New Testaments, and today a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its ancient ruins and marvel at the Church of St. Stephen’s floor mosaic, one of the largest and best preserved in Jordan.

After breakfast, depart Amman heading south to Machaerus (Mukawir), the dramatic hilltop fortress of Herod the Great. It is here that John the Baptist was imprisoned and later beheaded, making this one of the most poignant sites in the biblical story. Standing on its summit, you can see the Dead Sea and the hills of Hebron in the distance. Continue your journey along the historic King’s Highway, a route that has been traveled since biblical times, with scenic stops along the way. Arrive in Petra, the fabled Nabatean city carved from rose-red sandstone and often referred to as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Enter through the narrow Siq, a natural gorge nearly a kilometer long, which opens dramatically onto the magnificent Treasury (AlKhazneh). Explore the Royal Tombs, the Street of Facades, and the theatre carved into the mountainside. Dinner and overnight in Petra.

Spend the morning at leisure in Petra with time for personal reflection, photography, or an optional visit to Little Petra (Siq al-Barid), a smaller Nabatean site believed to have housed early Christian communities and caravan traders. Afterwards, transfer back to Queen Alia International Airport in Amman for your departure flight, carrying with you memories of a deeply meaningful journey through the biblical landscapes of Jordan.
